Rev. Michael Bechard, the Director of Campus Ministry at King’s University College at Western, has passed on some welcome news.
They have already welcomed three families from Syria, and one from Iraq. The men in the families have already found jobs. The kids are in school, or at least seeing a tutor.
In terms of housing, the families from Syria have been staying in a property owned by King’s, but are about to move to an offsite townhouse, on December 1st.
They have also sponsored three families from Africa.
Rev. Bechard notes that the families moving to the townhouse may require some furniture and household goods.
Looking ahead, their group has already begun the paperwork to welcome yet another family (father, mother and son). And they plan to assist with family reunification cases – i.e., where a specific individual has been identified overseas, and London sponsors, who know the refugees, bring them over.
